Peer Supporter Modules - requirements
Module 1- 4 hours: Personal Fears, Phobias and Self Like, Triggers, Warning Signs, Behavioral Depression Inventory, Suicide Risk, Stages of Mental Health Recovery, Stages of Recovery, Alcohol & Drug Abuse, Protective Factors for Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Risk Factors for Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Indicators of Domestic Violence, Accompanying a Peer, Safe Home Visits, Inventions to Avoid, How to Put Your Safety First, How to Tell Your Story to Different Audiences and Provide Hope.
Module 2 – 4 hours: How to Facilitate Groups, The Preparation, The Set, Setting the Ground Rules, Types of Groups, Characteristics of People in Groups, Avoiding Cross-talk, How to handle Triggering in a Group-setting, How to recognize Characteristics and deal with behaviors, Types of groups (Strategies), Types of group facilitation (Methods), Building a Supportive Environment that promotes Empowerment and Input, Building a Support Network, Using “I” statements, and Closure.
Module 3 – 4 hours: The Role of a Peer Specialist in Resources and Linking with Community, Situations and Links - Using Community Resources, Working with the Community, Spirituality, Faith-based Supports, Using Natural Supports, Mapping Community Resources, Building Community, Being an Advocate, Advocacy and Advocacy Techniques, Community’s Culture and Diversity Issues.
Module 4 – 4 hours: Direct Peer Support with Specific Problems: Homelessness, Hunger, Hygiene, Household Chores, Budget, Self Care, and Maintenance, Medical and Medicine Maintenance, Medicine Monitoring Tools, Documentation Standards, Pre-Crisis and Crisis, Progress Notes, Addressing Recovery Goals, Self Determination and Self Directed Recovery to address Issues and resolve Conflicts, Relationship Conflicts and Skills, Using Workbooks and Written Materials, and Introduction to Using Recovery Tools
Completion Certificates are provided after each training module. This training series is designed to have multiple entry and exit points with the ability to have web-x instruction and computer-based instruction to enhance the training and meet multiple modalities and needs. Authorization numbers to Web-X are provided so trainees may refresh their coursework as needed. The Training is signed off by Roberta L. Howard. Both she and NAZCARE Trainers may sign off on State forms for Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, and the Veterans Affairs and Administration. (Veteran’s scholarships are available) Please note that we strongly suggest trainees be qualified to meet the State Standards needed to qualify to provide direct services in your State, however, this training proves valuable in understanding people in recovery including one self.
Fee $175.00 per module
