Peer Employment Training can be provided a number of ways in order to meet a participant’s needs: Classroom setting, Live Web-x in classroom or one to one type setting, Distance Learning, or self-paced web-based access with certain learning sets to be with an instructor. Peer Employment Training is atiered program which provides training for Peer Mentors, Supporters, and Specialists. It may also be taken by people desiring employment as a Peer Support Specialist or Recovery Specialist, or those in a recovery or behavioral health field requiring certification or not. Upon completion, this tiered program will provide 60 to 70 hours of instruction and practicum experience. There are also homework assignments, presentations, co-facilitation assignments, telling your story, producing a Wellness Plan (WRAP) and practicum &/or Internships of 30 additional hours that must be completed. Arrangements for these can be with an employer, a support organization (SMART, NA, AA 12 Steps, etc.), a NAZCARE facility, or another provider organization. The practicum is observed and mastery is required. Curriculum is based on research and evidenced-basedwork by Roberta L. Howard and detailed syllabi is available upon request.
*Note: Training can be tailored to include your specific State and agency’s standards and documentation training, and includes basic WRAP facilitation.
